THURS., AUG. 28

Today was a busy fun day. mostly have my camera issues worked out, so I am roaming around the city taking pictures. I am sure that the driver, Ramu, thinks I am strange snapping pictures of all kinds of things that would be odd to him. There has been rain every night, very, very heavy. The flooding in the streets is very bad, Andy could not get to the new office facility for hours, they had to take all kinds of back roads and it was a real mess. The mosquitoes will be bad when they hatch, with all this standing water. I went shopping also, yes, I am bringing another suitcase home!!!
I just had another wild adventure. The monkeys in the trees outback were right up by the house, so I took lots of pictures. They were so much fun to watch. I think they were sometimes 3 or 4 ft. very close, and they did not seem to mind me. They are used to people. Tonight I will go to the tailor and pick up my skirt and eat I hope at a more Western place. Last night we had dinner at an Indian place, even though they said they had none spice food, they did not. Even the rice had some sort of spicy sauce. They did, however, have diet coke. Ramu went to the grocery store yesterday to try to get some pop, and bread, but the government is limiting what we can by so no coke and the bread was good, but he had to go to 2 stores. This is a police state and the new government in Bangalore is very restrictive on many things. Reba, the housekeeper and her husband would like me to bring them to America to work for me. It is very difficult to explain why I cannot do it. If you sponsor someone, you are responsible for them for 5 years and their employment, whether for you or someone else. Many dissapear into the sea of illegals. I believe that Reba would be a wonderful housekeeper for someone she is a hard worker and very clean. Her husband is a chief at a very popular place. She was very surprised to learn that I do my own cleaning, cooking and laundry. (well at least with Bob's help) To many poor people of the world, America seems like the dream place. Some of the people I have met, have tried America, and found it to be too immoral and returned to India.
The sun sets in about 10 min. it is a little dim, like cloudy and bang! it is black dark. Sun comes up very fast, as well, little dawn and suns up and it is hot and humid after the rain the night before. All for now, eating time is near!!
