Tues.a.m. in London.
Slept well but fast. We ordered breakfast which came as a giant bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on toast. 4 layers thick and a bottom layer of ham. Fresh fruit, all of which was very sweet, a basket of crossaints and jellys, fresh org. juice and several sweet rolls. Wonderful food, but too too much. Off to the Buckingham castle to see the changing of the guard.. Horsemen ride up the street with bright shinney silver helmets on beautiful black horses. Then the regiment of soldiers marching in their red uniforms wearing the furry looking black hats came marching up the street playing their regimental song. The queen was in residence as the flag was flying from the flag pole on top. Many people hoped that she or someone royal would drive out, but not today. The security and police presence was shocking, it was so large; on horse back, bike, walking and in cars. I suppose guarding the queen and palace is a huge daunting task. The palace and grounds were very beautiful, the gardens in the surrounding parks were very beautiful. Back to the hotel to get to train for Paris. The concierge told us that they would store some of our luggage while we traveled, but Andy thought it would be too difficult to dig in our suitcases and combine into one each, so we took them all. What a mistake. more about that later.
